Terrorcore's 2025 Mid-Year Update

Terrorcore's 2025 Mid-Year Update

I want to start by saying that this has been Terrorcore's busiest year so far. That is a great thing! I am extremely excited by how far we have come in the short few years we've been in the publishing sphere. I am equally excited to see where we are headed. So far, we have published only nostalgic horror anthologies. Next year we are launching into standalones with Rewind and novelizations with Slaughter High

While I cannot talk about it yet, we have secured the rights to another iconic 1980s film and are working with the Director/Writer on novelizing it. I believe this is a title that many of you will be excited to see in print. Any guesses? An announcement will be made in 2026, so stay tuned.

Doors of Darkness III: The Mall

We recently wrapped up editing on Doors of Darkness III: The Mall and are about to get proofs printed. We are extremely excited for this installment in the Doors of Darkness series. If you're new here, the series does not need to be read sequentially. Each volume can be read in any order, and each story within each volume can be read in any order.

This year's installment takes us away from the physical street locations (Doors of Darkness was located on Fern Street and Doors of Darkness II: Trick or Treat was located on Pike Street) and brings us to the mall setting which was booming in the 80s.

If you think of the 80s, it is hard to do so without picturing malls. All of the various shops within Doors of Darkness III: The Mall sure make you feel like you are a part of that era. If you were alive during that time, I have no doubts that this will bring back some memories--although I do hope the memories are a little less gory.

Don't miss the spectacular introduction, written by Duncan Ralston, the author of Woom and the Ghostland trilogy, who gets to the heart of what malls have meant for horror.

Dolls in the Attic

This isn't new news, but I want to remind everyone that the Dolls in the Attic paperback edition comes out September 2nd, 2025 on online sites where books are sold, such as Amazon and Barnes & Noble. You can already pick up a copy on our websites, though. If you buy from us, you get a free bookmark with every copy of the book ordered.

This is a standalone anthology that you can't miss if you like creepy dolls and generational trauma horror. Some of my favorite short stories that we have published are in this collection.

Some Thing Out There

This is a partnership between Billie Karras, who is editing the collection, and House of the Macabre (Nadine Stewart). It is Nadine's brainchild that I felt should be brought to life. Given my other projects, I decided to allow another editor to be involved and picked Billie given his similar likes in the genre. We do not have a set date for release yet, as the story selection is underway. If you haven't heard back yet, please understand that this is normal. We are working a little slower with our selection to ensure a good fit for all three of us. We let everyone know at the same time once the final selections are made.

Slaughter High

At the beginning of this year, I acquired the novelization rights for Slaughter High, which was filmed and directed by Mark Ezra in 1986. It is a fantastic movie which translated as a novel beautifully, as familiar characters have been given more development and some new faces have been added. I have written around 70k words in the draft and have passed them on to alpha readers (some of whom have seen the film and know it well, some who have seen the film but don't remember much, and some who have never seen the film at all). I will be taking feedback from them and incorporating it into the draft, before sending it out to Mark Ezra for feedback. Stay tuned for a cover reveal later this year from Creepy Carves Design!

Terrorcore Rewind

Next year will see the release of several books in the Terrorcore Rewind series. I don't want to give an exact number yet, but it is fair to say there will be quite a few Terrorcore releases in 2026. Even though our authors are extremely excited to share that they are a part of this, we are not ready to share any of those details yet. I want to make sure the stories are progressing well before giving the official line-up. This will save us from having to pull back releases or change dates if such a change needs to occur. What I can say is that I am in love with the titles so far. Recently, all the authors have resubmitted their outlines and preliminary chapters. I believe that they scream retro horror in all of the best of ways.
